Smart Technology Trends in Industrial and Business Management

Abstract

Industry 4.0 is an initiative supporting the 4th Industrial Revolution. It comes with new technologies and concepts such as automation, system integration, autonomous robotics, digitization, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence systems, and many others. New technologies are rapidly changing the face of the economy, the way of living, and fundamentally also the field of industrial production. This movement brings a series of challenges that creates opportunities for many companies to develop a long-term competitive advantage and to ensure the competitiveness in a global environment. In our research, we studied the preparation and response of the companies from production industries to changes coming with Industry 4.0. We also made a comparative study comparing companies from Slovak Republic to companies from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The particular findings of the research are presented in this paper.
