Abstract

The RSI regime consisted of moderates in an uneasy relationship with zealots. Mussolini undertook a transformation from duce of Italian Fascism based on the notion of Italianità to a revised Fascism lodged in a Nazi Deutschtum: Hitler’s continental racist state. Mussolini gave birth to the concept of nazifascista, which in the death throes of the RSI became the dominating ideology.
