Women in the Frame: To Be Concluded

  • Georgina Williams

This chapter summarises the ways in which elements considered throughout the book assist in expanding the discourse concerning the representation of women, as well as their absence from both historical and art-historical narratives. It reviews the pictorial tropes found as subject and object within imagery of the female form, including William Hogarth’s line of beauty, and traces the genealogies both prior to the prescribed decade 1908 to 1918 and into the twenty-first century.
