Abstract

The final chapter summarises the findings, highlights the central arguments of each chapter, and reflects on elements of continuity and change in royal education from Isabel II to Alfonso XII and Alfonso XIII. It will also situate the thesis within recent developments in the historiography of nineteenth-century Spain and touch upon the historiographical debates it engages with. One of the central focuses will be the contribution of the book to the revision of theories of Spanish backwardness.
