Abstract

In this chapter, a novel one-degree-of-freedom (1-DOF) microforce sensor is designed by adopting macrofiber composite (MFC) and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) films. The films function as fixed-guided beams and construct a multistage compound parallelogram flexure mechanism. The sensor enables the abilities of sensing force and holding cell stably. A prototype is fabricated, tested, and applied in crab egg embryo microinjection. Experiments results reveal the promising performance of the fabricated MFC-based microforce sensor in microinjection application.
