Network Interconnection of PROFIBUS and MODBUS for Networked Control System

Various of equipments and instruments with different network protocols are used in the same networked control system for integrated manufacturing automation. The communication technology of hybrid network is widely concerned. The interconnection technologies of different network protocols are discussed in this paper. In particular, the interconnection design of hybrid network between PROFIBUS and MODBUS is discussed in depth. A concrete communication design of PROFIBU-DP and MODBUS hybrid network interconnection using NT50-DP-RS intelligent gateway is given. The design has been verified by our communication experiment, and its design method has a good guiding effect on the related engineering design application.
