An original control model based on electric-mechanic continuously variable transmission (EMCVT) and the corresponding control mechanism were put forward to solve the frequency conversion problem of alternating-current generator, and the major research focused on the control strategy of external clutch adopting mechanical variable frequency technology. By building the model of dynamic clutch, the control objectives and control parameters were determined. The control method of smooth access or delay disconnect when the clutch running was studied, which realizes the switching control between micro power grid interconnection and isolated island operation in the alternating-current generator. A control experiment of EMCVT external clutch was designed in the paper. Through the experiment it testify that adopting EMCVT in AC generating set, it can product without harmonic pollution and the control of high efficiency constant frequency to come true. Besides, the clutch model and the fuzzy control strategy were present and stable access or disconnect of the output power were realized according to certain rule, achieving the phase consistency of grid frequency and follow-up control of output power.
