Abstract
It was a great pleasure for me when in March 2014 I was confronted for the first time with the idea of proposing a motion for conferring an honorary doctorate of TU Dresden to Mr. Professor Dr. Heinz Langer. I spontaneously agreed to support this endeavour. That on this particular date TU Dresden dignifies one of the outstanding scientists of the second half of the 20th century makes me very happy.
