Evolution is defined in two dimensions-species and societies-and for humans it is the latter that is important. The evolution of human society is taking place at an accelerating rate, enabled by a corresponding evolution of technology and its applications. Society is viewed as a system of interacting individuals, and the unrestrained interaction of their intelligence forms society’s collective intelligence, with its intrinsic ability to ensure survival; survival of the fittest has now become survival of the fittest society.
