Anterior Knee Pain: Diagnosis and Treatment

Abstract

Anterior knee pain is a common complaint when managing patients for knee pain. The differential diagnosis for anterior knee pain can be broad with a variety of physical manifestations and patients’ complaints. Common causes of anterior knee pain include patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS), patellar tendinopathy, quadriceps tendinopathy, and pes anserine bursitis. The following chapter discusses the clinical presentation, treatment, and outcomes of each of these entities.
