Abstract

The incipient motion condition is the hydrodynamic condition, i.e., of velocity and flow depth, whereby the particles lying on a streambed start to move under the action of fluid.

    Alternatively, the mobility of the single grain size class \(\theta _{c\,_j}\) can be calculated with reference to the expected mobility as if the material were uniform, with the same granulometry as that in question and multiplied by a hiding factor as well. Of course in the presence of rough wall, the two definitions coincide in all grain size classes.
