Abstract
Fifty-two newly diagnosed pemphigus vulgaris patients hospitalized in Razi Hospital, Tehran, Iran, during 2013–2014, were investigated by the author. Venous blood samples were taken from the patients on the first day of hospitalization, and the level of anti-desmoglein 1 and 3 autoantibodies was reported. Scores higher than 20 RU (relative units)/ml were regarded as positive, and for the amounts higher than 200 RU/ml, the patients’ serum was thinned by a factor of 1/400 and the index value was calculated.
In this study, the severity of cutaneous and mucosal disease was calculated by Pemphigus Disease Area Index (PDAI) before the treatment.
