Case-Based Textbook of Echocardiography

Abstract

Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) can provide a comprehensive assessment of the anatomy, function, and hemodynamic of the cardiovascular system. However, it is an operator-dependent technique and requires the expertise of the physician, who should be familiar with the capabilities and limitations (pitfalls and artifacts) of echocardiography. In this chapter we will review the basic principles of TTE, explaining how to perform Adult TTE besides definition and obtaining standard windows and views.
