Abstract
This concluding chapter reflects the ongoing prophetic task of a Puerto Rican decolonial theology. Using liminality and ambiguity as points of reference which reflect the ongoing identity, suffering and hope of Puerto Rican people, this chapter identifies strategies for prophetic action and social transformation that undermine colonial oppression, including reconciliation as a process of prophetic imagination. It also suggests moving beyond the Puerto Rican “status” question to a deeper understanding of freedom that is not bound by external circumstances but rather inscribed by God. While the external circumstances are not to be dismissed as insignificant, they do not tell the entire story of freedom. Thus, a Puerto Rican decolonial theology can be understood more broadly as an example of a Christian theology of freedom.
