Microscopic Chemically Reactive Electronic Agents

Abstract

This case study considers MICREAgents (MIcroscopic Chemically Reactive Electronic Agents), composed of free-floating CMOS “lablets” in aqueous solution, which can control the chemistry of their immediate vicinity and thereby also their interactions with one-another, as a substrate for unconventional computing. Such lablets at the space scale of 100 μm are being fabricated and investigated in the EU project MICREAgents (McCaskill et al., 2012).
