Abstract

A vast number of traumatic injuries can involve the upper extremity. In this chapter, the specific injuries seen most commonly in a busy emergency department will be described, with emphasis on the mechanism of injury, radiographic appearance, and complications. Radiographic appearances of injuries will be emphasized as the radiograph is typically the initial imaging tool utilized in the emergency setting, and frequently the diagnosis can be made using radiography alone.
