A New Model of Care and the Future for Survivorship Care
Based on discussion from the systematic review, the patient focus group and supported by the healthcare professional interviews, the developed pathway should consist of pre-surgical intervention and when continence has been achieved, ED therapy compromising psychological and physical effects.
An opt out psychosexual pathway is mandatory for commencement as soon as continence is achieved.
This should encompass pre-surgery counselling, an ED specialist nurse, an ED Clinic, access to medical therapy and vacuum pumps, psychological and physical therapy, which extends to partners and encompasses all treatment groups.
It should be an opt out pathway.
GP education should be part of this pathway.
