Abstract
Beehler et al. [1] demonstrated survivors had many primary care visits, but no contact with ‘holistic’ care support, e.g. dieticians, nutritionists, exercise rehabilitation. This is further supported by the findings of Aarts [2], indicating the presence of serious co-morbidity was closely linked to health related quality of life. Also associated were side effects of treatment (Deimling 2002). Khan et al. [3], demonstrated survivors, however, had no higher comorbidity than matched controls. This was explained by the robust follow-up system of primary care. Self-management interventions have also been assessed in survivors and found to improve urinary symptoms (Faithful 2010) with positive results.
