Abstract

There are available long-term survival data of primary THA coming from single referral centres or single surgeons, large national population-based registry studies or unpublished registry data. Long-term studies from single centres or surgeons that usually referred to a single type of implant [1–5] have reported survival free of revision greater than 90% at 10 years and 80% at 25 years [1–3, 6–9]. Studies from experts do not support just one technique, and excellent implant survivorship has been reported for cemented and uncemented THAs [1, 10–12].
