Abstract
In this chapter, we will explore the various platforms for computer music that are available to practitioners today. The discussion will be steered mostly towards general-purpose computing, as this has proved the more enduring form of such platforms. We will look closely at the software and hardware environments available for desktop, mobile and web applications, discussing also the emergence of the DIY platform, and the concept of an Internet of Musical Things.
