With a sum of 1000 écus, or crowns, for travel expenses, Cassini arrived in Paris, on April 4, 1669, after a forty-day journey, with stopovers in many towns for seeing relatives and colleagues. He was accompanied by Count Ercole Zani, one of his disciples from Bologna, who later continued his studies in England.
