Abstract

This chapter focuses upon the results of the quantitative element of the research. The first section of the chapter considered the three questions that respondents answered to rank order certain issues relating to policing. These were as follows: what are the most important priorities of a police officer, what are the most important characteristics of a police officer and, finally, who are the people who had influenced their development as officers. The second section of this chapter then goes on to consider a set of statements relating to both policing itself and being a police officer, where respondents were measured upon the extent of their agreement or disagreement.
