Abstract
This paper principally discusses the similarities and differences between medical and process diagnostics. The main aim of this paper is to headline those methodological achievements of the diagnostics of processes that, when implemented, may push forward development of automatized diagnostic systems intended for medical applications. First, the specific features of diagnostic approaches were discussed. Then the online and offline modes of diagnostic systems were characterized. The deliberations regarding application of model-based diagnostics for medical diagnostics were illustrated on example of diagnostics of urinary tract obstruction. Finally there was stated that some of the diagnostic approaches elaborated on the ground of diagnostics of processes, particularly regarding fault isolation are promising for applications in medical diagnostics.
