Abstract
This chapter compares the relationship between media and the British and Portuguese empires during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It focuses on select themes including language and print; the development of colonial journalism and press networks; jingoism, propaganda and censorship; broadcasting and empire; and nationalism, decolonisation and the media.
