Abstract
This chapter examines the creative capacities of users, or mod developers, and their contributions to development. It presents empirical findings concerning design capabilities of Second Life users. The results focus on the analysis of disparities between capabilities of Second Life users. Attention is drawn to different participation patterns and communication behaviours associated with Second Life membership. Different modes of user participation are related to the organizational characteristics and culture of the developer firm.
