Abstract

The road to inventions, innovations and progress is often winding and full of surprises. In the case of antibiotics, the breakthrough was delayed because the luxury consumption of certain products was too slow. This may sound strange but there is a certain logic behind it. The list of technological innovations that have contributed to welfare and social equality could be extended infinitely. Without the printing press, for example, there would have been no general access to information and hence no democracy. During the techno-evolution process, machines and new technology have eliminated many heavy, hazardous, unhealthy, and monotonous tasks.
