Abstract
The proximity that the nasal cavity, nasopharynx, and paranasal sinuses share with the orbit results in many pathological processes overlapping to involve these regions simultaneously. The thin, partially perforated boundaries that separate these regions render the orbit violable to spread from infections and masses that emanate from the nose. Similarly, primary orbital processes can extend into the nose and present initially with nasal symptoms. This chapter addresses sinonasal pathology that may threaten the orbit and is thus germane to both otolaryngologists and ophthalmological specialists. Methods of diagnosis and intervention, including endoscopic and endonasal surgery, will be reviewed.
