Abstract
This chapter presents leisure practices and patterns that emerge through the organization of time. Individuals focus their attention on organizing time to be able to match their concept of effective time use with their practices in this case effectivity is measured by variation regarding activities, social relations and locations. The chapter shows how the ideal of spontaneity and the ideal of variation actually work together in everyday practice. Variation, tied to planning, gains the upper hand over spontaneity in leisure practices because the women have a quite concrete project of the self the want to see to term. This chapter also highlights the importance and all-embeddedness of technology in these women’s lives, both as tool and as leisure space.
