Abstract
One of the basic tenets of stent placement is to avoid jailing major veins; however, the junction between the subclavian and brachiocephalic veins is a common site for stenosis to occur associated with the use of a central venous catheter. This being the case, it is not unusual for a stent to be placed at this location. In these cases, if the insertion of a dialysis catheter is required at a later date, inserting the catheter through the side of the stent, as in this case, becomes necessary.
