Abstract

Delayed puberty is a heterogeneous condition related to different underlying causes affecting hypothalamic-pituitary axis, with different impact on the general health. The chapter provides an overview of the pathophysiology of pubertal impairment, comprehensive of the possible clues of specific disorders, of diagnostic workup and of specific therapeutic approaches. It should also be kept in mind that an aberration in the proper pubertal timing has a significant impact on psychological health of the girl, so a proper definition is mandatory.
