Correction of Corneal Astigmatism with Femtosecond Relaxing Incisions

Abstract

The accuracy and reproducibility of the femtosecond laser has made it an ideal tool to perform astigmatic keratotomy. The laser can potentially offer no skipped lesions, minimized risk of perforation, and increased precision through reproducible incision depth, length, angulation, and centration. The incisions can be made both full thickness and intrastromal. Compared with manual astigmatic keratotomy, the results were similar; however, it was less likely to have an axis shift or misalignment.
