Abstract

Resting ECG remains the primary screening modality for virtually all patients more than 40 years of age as it is undeniably cost-effective and noninvasive. ECG abnormalities can be present in a wide variety of cardiac and noncardiac conditions such as electrolyte abnormalities. Knowledge of the characteristic ECG changes provide early clues to the presence of these disorders, the prompt recognition and treatment of which may be lifesaving.
