Abstract
In this final chapter, Donahoe investigates outside forces and their effects on the peace in Northern Ireland. The Women, Peace, and Security agenda led by UNSCR 1325 represents an international norm regarding women’s roles in peace processes yet the British NAP does not recognize the Troubles as a conflict and therefore does not assist or support the women of Northern Ireland. Turning to Brexit this chapter assesses the implication of the United Kingdom’s break from the European Union on peace in Northern Ireland. While much is unknown, Donahoe argues that women’s community development is a source of resilience and empowerment in Northern Ireland.
