Abstract
During the course of treatment, it often becomes apparent that the child’s NES and other physical symptoms are emotionally based. But the child is unaware of the link between the child’s negatively charged emotions or thoughts and these symptoms. As a result of therapy, the child begins to understand that stressful situations evoke negative emotions in most people and in the child. Once this is achieved, it is important to examine how stress and negative emotions are associated with the child’s NES episodes and other physical sensations.
