Part of the book series: Wireless Networks ((WN))

Abstract

Network function virtualization (NFV) is rapidly emerging as the de facto approach operators will use to deploy their networks. NFV leverages on cloud computing principles to change the way NFs like gateways and middleboxes are offered. As opposed to today’s tightly coupling between the NF software and dedicated hardware, NFV concept requires the virtualization of NFs allowing them to run on generalized hardware.
