Abstract

Some palpable findings on the neck can mimic a goiter. To determine the correct diagnosis is vital ultrasound examination. Ultrasound could reveal lipomas, branchial cleft cysts, dermoid cysts, cellulitis—phlegmon, thrombus in the internal jugular vein or post-thyroidectomy hematoma. Caution! These palpable findings can coexist with multinodular goiter. Another ultrasound findings of normal anatomic structure in the thyroid gland such as “Pseudo-nodule”; Mirror-image” artifact can mimic a thyroid or parathyroid lesion.
