Patrol officers communicate constantly and in everything they do. They communicate verbally, by listening, in writing, through social media, through their demeanor, and by their presence. People act and react based on how a patrol officer arrives a scene, drives through a neighborhood, approaches a problem, delivers a notification, uses his or her voice, chooses language, walks a foot post, testifies in court, controls an arrestee, and looks at a child.
