The Human Right to Housing in the Face of Land Policy and Social Citizenship

Abstract

Each state is unique in the way of reporting its implementation of the human right to housing, for example, by considering the mentioned actors, policies, or disadvantaged and vulnerable groups such as refugees or indigenous people. However, there are also some common grounds. While some states particularly focused on homelessness, other states talked more about Spaces of Inadequate Housing or stressed their poverty. About a third of the states reported on inadequate housing with little, if any, detail. A few states stuck out because they reported the human right to housing under the umbrella of social citizenship and sometimes even global social citizenship.
