Abstract

This case of a 42-year-old man with pelvic and perineal injuries illustrates the importance of thorough clinical and radiological examination (including proctoscopy and cystoscopy) to define the extent of rectal injuries. Multiple fragment (shrapnel) injuries may be associated with extensive pelvic and perineal trauma.
