Abstract
Variational calculus (also called calculus of variations) deals with extremization of those maps whose definition domain is a space of infinite size, sometimes called curves space or functions space. The maps of this type are called functionals. In general, functional is called any mapping of the functions space on the real straight line. This chapter reminds basic results of classical variational calculus.
