Part of the book series: Undergraduate Lecture Notes in Physics ((ULNP))

Abstract

In this chapter the dependence of the period of the pendulum for a fixed length as a function of the initial angle is investigated using the video analysis technique. The results are compared to the numerical solution of the pendulum non-linear differential equation of motion.

Notes

  1. 1.

Carvalhaes and Suppes [3] present high precision calculations concerning the period of the simple pendulum .

  2. 2.

Arnold et al. [4] present an interesting discussion about the application of a damped pendulum in a didactic laboratory.
