Abstract

The official definition of a fireball , according to the International Astronomical Union (IAU) , is that of “a meteor brighter than any of the planets.” Although giving the observer a fair gauge of the increased brightness from a meteor to a fireball, it does leave out much when considering some of the elements of a sighting.
