Abstract
This survey is undertaken to review, document, and critically discuss the academic activities at Senegal’s flagship university, Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD), with attention to its academic status, and the university’s impact on Senegal and the African francophone countries. The review conducted for this study included UCAD’s activities of UCAD from 1957 to 2012 with special reference to managing research, particularly their governance, the organization of research teams, the financing of research, the research environment, intellectual property rights, and the valorization of research results.
