Abstract
When dealing with a neurologic emergency, the location of the injury is as important as the type of injury. A comprehensive understanding of neuroanatomy is essential for prediction of complications and prognostication in the setting of an acute brain injury. This chapter focuses on the structure and function of each aspect of the central nervous system as well as the surrounding protective structures.
