Pediatric Anesthesiology Review

Abstract

A 16-year-old with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is scheduled for ACL reconstruction. This chapter provides questions that review the considerations for a patient with CRPS presenting for painful surgery. The management of chronic pain syndromes is presented along with the various drug classes that are involved in treatment. The use of appropriate general anesthesia and regional/multimodal analgesia are discussed. Behavioral medicine interventions and postoperative care are also reviewed.
