Abstract
In Sect. 3.7 we have derived the equilibrium conditions for thermodynamic systems. Those considerations can be further generalized. In the form of a gedanken-experiment, we divided the total system into two fictitious partial systems and therewith created a simple non-equilibrium situation. The system reacted to this situation in a definite manner and provided therewith information about the behavior of certain state quantities at equilibrium.
