Abstract

The events I’ve just described all took place without interrupting my teaching duties. I had right away held the lecture course in inorganic chemistry in the winter semester of 1887/1888, the lectures in physical chemistry in the following summer semester, and had step by step started my duties as examiner and as a member of the faulty. I had also begun the endless round of introductory visits to my new colleagues and had shown my great willingness to become a typical cell in the vast organism of Leipzig University.
