Abstract

This case reviews extreme behavior related to food and calorie regulation that fall outside of what might be considered “normal”, but which do not necessarily fulfill criteria for a diagnosis of a feeding and eating disorder. Assessment of eating and exercise routines in very active athletes is reviewed. The discussion elaborates on how to approach a case where food and weight issues seem to be salient, but are not categorically pathological.
