Abstract
Based on the survey done in Sect. 1.7 and Chap. 2, the media access control protocols are classified into two broad categories: random and time-slotted media access schemes, each having its pros and cons. Recently a new class of access scheme, known as hybrid schemes has been developed with better performance than that of the random and time-slotted access schemes.
