Abstract

Adenoma of the nipple may be considered as a tubular apocrine adenoma located in the nipple.

The lesion presents as a solitary papule or nodule on the nipple in an adult woman.

Histopathologically, the lesion appears as an endophytic, wedge-shaped lesion, which usually opens to the epidermal surface and is composed of tubular structures lined by a double layer of epithelial cells. Decapitation secretion is easily seen in the luminal cells lining the tubules.

Nipple adenoma is a benign neoplasm in most cases, although in rare instances an adenocarcinoma and an adenoma of the nipple may be present in the same breast.
